MJS Business Finance Ltd was established in 2004 by Martin Shearwood, Steve Aston and Peter Squire and was re-branded as Business Finance Plus Ltd to reflect the growth and broad range of services on offer. With over 40 years experience within the banking and finance industry, the directors identified an opportunity to provide the Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) market with a unique proposition.
As Martin Shearwood, Operations Director says "We are an independent business finance consultancy providing a comprehensive brokerage service. We provide clients with Free Impartial Advice and we offer business funding solutions which are tailored to meet specific requirements. Martin Shearwood – Operations Director

- Management of the Business Support Team

- Providing franchise network with technical support
Background:
- Over 20 years experience in a business finance environment
- Martin spent 6 years working for RBS / Lombard where he successfully managed 2 business centres in the West Midlands.
- He rebuilt the Wolverhampton centre from a 32/32 centre to a top 5 centre within 2 years. Responsible for sales, recruitment, underwriting, budgeting, processing operating business growth and managing a major business integration and system changes.
- Martin also spent 14 years with a HSBC / Forward Trust where roles included sales and business development, credit management, operations and customer service management
- Has qualified in management with Open Business School
Steve Aston – Business Development Director
Business Development Expert!
Responsible for:
- Managing signposted services relations and negotiations through the preferred partner network
- Developing new product areas
- Providing marketing support
Background:
- Steve started working life in industry before moving into private practice, where he qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1989
- His expertise in the commercial and management sectors of businesses comes from his early experiences with a large engineering company and from his continued interest in helping clients in these areas
- Steve has developed extensive contacts within the West Midlands business community and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce
- Steve is also a partner in an accountancy firm and is responsible for client relationships
Peter Squire – Financial Director
Financial Expert!
Responsible for:
- Managing all aspects of financial controls and administration
- Financial reporting
- IT strategy and development
Background:
- Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has spent many years involved in the business and professional world in the West Midlands
- He has dealt with all aspects of a wide range of clients, and has a particular interest in developing businesses from start-up through to fully established organisations using the latest IT innovations
- Peter is also a partner in an accountancy firm and is responsible for the management of the practice along with the firm’s quality control on audits and the company’s secretarial division.
